Fill your home with the comforting smell of winter this holiday season by making a vibrant and spicy winter simmer potpourri recipe

As you prepare your home for guests this holiday season, fill parts of it with the natural fragrance of the winter season with a winter simmer potpourri.
Stovetop simmering scents are such a cozy way to incorporate the essence of a season in your home. The holidays are always full of warmth and spice when it comes to food and aromas. Gather cranberries, oranges, cinnamon, rosemary, and spices like cardamom to prepare this welcoming potpourri. Today, I’m sharing how you can make this winter simmer potpourri on the stove for your home.

This recipe is extremely simple to make. Yet, it adds a bit of luxury to your home and creates a strong emotional experience as your guests enter. All you need to do is add all of the ingredients to a pot on the stove and let it gently simmer for hours on end. You will need to occasionally check the water levels but that’s all.

What you'll need:
Cranberries
1 cup of fresh cranberries
You can use either fresh or frozen cranberries. My preference is fresh cranberries, but either works fine. I do suggest not using dried cranberries as they don’t offer the same effect.
Cinnamon sticks, Cloves, and Cardamom
2-3 cinnamon sticks, 1 tablespoonful of cloves, 1 tablespoonful of cardamom
Cinnamon, whole cloves, and cardamom arouse the warmth and spice that is so nostalgic for the holiday season. Be sure to use cinnamon sticks and not ground cinnamon. A little tip, you can get all of these spices relatively cheap at an international market or Indian grocery store.
Rosemary
2-3 sprigs of rosemary
A few sprigs of rosemary just elevate the scent. It's earthy and herbal which brings comfort and festivity to the potpourri.
Orange
2-3 oranges
Vibrant citrus is an amazing complement to all of the warm spices of cinnamon, cardamom, and clove. Slice a few oranges into your pot.
Vanilla
1 tablespoonful of vanilla
A special little touch that totally heightens the stovetop potpourri.
Water
4-6 cups of water
These liquids are used to simmer everything together! You will need to occasionally refill the pot throughout the day as the liquid evaporates.
