Herbal facial steams are an amazing way to detoxify pores. They work so well loosening dirt and oil and removing toxins. What I also love about facial steams is they are a great way to prep the skin for mask and facial treatments. You can start with a really fresh extremely clean face. This allows the ingredients in your masks to really penetrate the skin.

An added bonus, the at home steams make you feel like you are getting a spa experience in the comfort of your home. Gather fresh herbs from your garden or your local market and give yourself the gift of self care with a facial steam.

Combine herbs and tea tree oil in a glass jar and close tight. Allow the herbs and oil to sit for at least 6-8 hours. To steam, add herbs and water to a large saucepan and bring to a boil. When the water has boiled, lower the heat and allow to simmer. Clean your skin with a facial cleanser before you begin. Lean your head over the pan and cover your head with a towel. Be sure to keep your face a bit away. Allow the steam to penetrate your skin for 10 minutes. Lastly, seal your skin with a mask or moisturizer.
