Back in my undergraduate and doctorate days, I enjoyed going to coffee shops to study. Taking a break from the monotony of studying in the cold school libraries, I looked forward to exploring the city for quaint coffee shops. Although I am years away from backpacks and highlighters, I still enjoy going to a coffee shop to read.
This week, I ventured out to one of my favorite places in the city, Shelby Farms, to curl up with my latest book and to try the newly opened Belltower Coffeehouse.
Belltower is a daytime coffeehouse and an evening wine bar as well as a pottery studio. They have been around for a while with their first location in the University of Memphis area on Highland. For years, locals and college students have raved about the Mediterranean small plates and beverages whether it be a latte or a glass of wine.
I think I shared over on Instagram how I am publicly sharing what I am studying within my own personal curriculum. I like to think of it as continuing education. The entire fall season, I have decided to go into a deep excursion into the literary works, life, essays, literally everything that was and still is Toni Morrison. I started with rereading Sula this month.
While at Belltower, I enjoyed a delightful cup of caramel and mocha latte that was customed blend for moi! The serenity of it all. Sipping coffee, watching words come alive on paper, listening to birds chip while taking in a gorgeous view of nature. I am going to be intentional about having many more mornings like these.
Nestled in Shelby Farms with a gorgeous view of nature and the comfort of coffee, Belltower will be added to my list of coffee shops to curl up with a book. Just so you know, the coffeehouse offers coffee and pastries that you can either enjoy indoors or out on the porch for outdoor seating. Like most coffee shops of today, there is WIFI as well, if you need to work a bit.
What I also learned that I will most definitely keep in mind is that you can place mobile orders from anywhere in the park. After a long run or playtime at the playground, I look forward to placing another caramel mocha latte to take home.
