A DAY AT SOUTH MAIN MARKET WITH SOPHORN OF NOROCOCO
A couple of weeks ago, I scheduled time with my friend Sophorn to have lunch. No real plans like a lunch meeting to discuss "particulars" or details of any future projects, just a day out of the office for her and studio for me to chat. We decided to go to South Main Market Downtown Memphis Food Hall, both of us are foodies but surprisingly neither of us have had a chance to go.
A DAY AT SOUTH MAIN MARKET DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS FOOD HALL WITH SOPHORN
Because she's totally amazing like seriously, amazing, I knew it would be more than just lunch. Sophorn is an architect, graphic designer, photographer, mom to an amazing 10-year-old, new wife, and blogger of lifestyle and design blog Norococo . Lunch with Sophorn isn't ordinary. It's inspiring. It's a one on one unintentional workshop. It's motivating. It's comforting. It's a pop-up photo shoot. Her eye and attention to detail is moving. Every image captured is a beautiful short story, whether food, buildings or people.
South Main Market is about exploring and experiencing great food and drink. We both loved the food hall concept particularly the variety of options. It was like one place, with several restaurants, great for indecisive foodies like myself to have options in one building. We each went our separate ways for a brief second. I really love bagels so I chose Lox and Bagel from City East Bagel Grille, which was a pretty good choice. No regrets at all. Sophorn, of course, like I said with exceptional taste made the perfect photographable choice. We sat down for a couple of hours and talked food, design not just fabric but industrial design, kids, weddings, and just life in general.
I really cherish time with friends. I hold on to those who are creative to the core and embody a beautiful aesthetic and approach to life. Friends like Sophorn keep my eyes and soul open to seeing life with a fresh and artistic approach. Although it was just lunch, the time spent with her over lunch also revealed a new source of inspiration. There is so much we can learn from each other. The simplicity and nostalgia of casual conversations over food is so comforting just like food.
