New Orleans, Here I Come!
I packed my bags and headed down I-55 to a city that has strong ties on my soul---New Orleans. I fell in love with her spring of 2002 as a young 20-year-old. I remember clearly when she made feel a feeling I've never felt before and it was indescribable. I have searched and wondered what is it about New Orleans that makes me fantasize about her. She has a Southern drawl that hypnotizes you. Food that heals and music that seduces your soul. What is about New Orleans that makes me desire a love affair on my beloved Memphis? Within 24-48 hours of being in her presence I finally saw the light. The light that New Orleans shines through herself in darkness.
New Orleans captivated me because she reflects a raw and pure light. A light that I have been searching for essentially since my 20s- the light of my inner child. The essence of my inner child. New Orleans doesn't hide anything from you. She's uniquely pure. MAGICAL. She serves you the good, the bad, and the ugly. It makes her beauty unrefined. She allows you to indulge and be free.
In New Orleans, I found the little girl who has been hiding and diming her light.
Thanks to New Orleans artist, B Mike, for creating art that heals and gives love and light to others.
I’ll be sharing more of my trip over the next couple of days like an artists date to a bad ass studio and local eateries you must try.
