Stay at The Graduate Hotel
I am a TENNESSEE gal at heart. I was born and raised in Memphis, TN, the soul of the state. My love for the Volunteer State extended with my studies at University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. However, there was this one time I gave Mississippi a chance to steal a corner of my heart with an interview at Ole Miss. Memphis got jealous and accepted me, lol. A few weeks ago, Oxford, MS and I reunited again when I was offered a stay at The Graduate Hotel at Oxford while on a work assignment. There is one thing for certain and two for sure Oxford, MS and Ole Miss shall never part. It is truly a college town with rich history.
As we drove into Oxford, we took a few minutes to take in the beauty of the square and its southern charm. Just a bit of the square, we arrived at The Graduate Hotel. We only had a bit of time to get dressed for the Saint Leo Lounge opening event . But, I couldn’t rush through the experience of walking through the hotel and taking in all of the intricate details. I fell so in love with the endearing collegiate style of The Graduate Hotel that pays homage to the hometown university, Ole Miss. The branding of the hotel was superb. I mean, the lobby desk was lined with novels. Upon our arrival, I was greeted with a novelty Oxford bag with a city guide, customized gifts, and a huge smile. That was Southern hospitality at its finest.
There were images of past football players and homecoming queens, old yearbooks and so many more fine details. And, the pink floors in the lobby.. yes to that!! The hotel was bustling with students and guests. The lounge area was bustling with activity from students studying and having conversation at the Wifi bar, a group of school age children on a field trip, to chic happy hour guests. I quickly came to see The Graduate is a destination in Oxford. Because, We had to hurry out for dinner and cocktails at Saint Leo I didn’t get to really take in the details for inspiration. I made sure that I set my alarm to wake up early for breakfast and a quiet walk through the lobby to see everything before our departure.
Want to know what I loved the most about The Graduate? Each Graduate Hotel is personalized to the city that they’re in, which makes for a unique stay. I have traveled and stayed at many hotels but never one that really saw branding and details through. Every corner was touched with a detail of Oxford or Ole Miss. You saw a lot of school memorabilia, books on Southern culture and even door tags that referenced studying. But it isn’t overboard!
Now to the basics of what makes a hotel stay nice and highly recommended. The rooms were very clean. They also felt like home away from home. Many hotels feel cold and businessey, you know what I mean. The rooms at The Graduate were cozy and comforting. I also was very pleased with the staff and the service. Everyone greeted you with a smile and offered to be of service. Ok, for my animal loves. The Graduate was pet friendly. I think I’ll have the memory of the chicest southern woman exit out of the elevator with a fur hat and an adorable poodle etched in my mind forever.
VisIting Oxford soon? I’d highly recommend stopping by The Graduate for cocktails on the roof or an overnight stay. Location, cleanliness, and a cool atmosphere are what I look for in a hotel, which this place had. They also have a restaurant inside for breakfast too.
