Inside Carolina Herrera "Refined Irreverance" with Andrea Fenise

This past weekend, I planned my Style in the City itinerary with a focus on things to do in Atlanta. The priority was laying my eyes on Carolina Herrera's Refined Irreverence at SCAD. I knew it what be time well spent and much needed inspiration.

Carolina Herrera's brand is synonymous with elegance, femininity and refinement. Her legacy is being celebrated with the first-ever retrospective of her work—at both Atlanta’s SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film and SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah.

Featured pieces from were “Refined Irreverence” were a gorgeous assymetrical black velvet gown with yellow organza ruffle detail, an azalea faille strapless gown with multicolored grossgrain bow detail, a silk modern art print with a knit top.

What was so impressive was that the pieces particularly all of them could easily be worn today just as they were in the 80s or 90s. Timeless!! All of the current pieces from the early 2000s are just as remarkable. Carolina Herrera has mastered the art of keeping her design aesthetic yet changing or evolving with the fashion industry.

If you are in Atlanta or visiting this summer, "Refined Irreverence” runs through September 25 at the SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film in Atlanta, and the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah.
