Yes, let's skip all over Christmas, and get right on our 2 0 1 7 Resolutions. The New Year is the opportunity to refresh, refocus and reestablish lifestyle changes that would potentially well--change our lives. Many of us will do the usual exercise more, eat healthy, travel more and save more. I promised to do all of the same with a few tweaks and hopefully still save with Groupon coupons. After my private re-commitment ceremony with my inner self I plan to go a little further or just do something a little unusual.
1 | HONING FEMININITY
We all may not be fully aware, hopefully we are, that we all have masculine and feminine characteristics and qualities that depict who we are. Every human has levels of testosterone and estrogen. Some more than others. Your masculine qualities or more testosterone comes forward when you are working hard towards a goal or being more aggressive. Feminine qualities or more estrogen, prance forward when channeling your inner woman and creativity. This year, I want to devalue the need for more masculine energy and really hone in more of feminine energies. I completely lost touch of my feminine side while working on building a business and providing for myself and Amira.
2 0 1 7 is the year I will embrace the inner goddess that has laid dormant. I will nurture my feminine spirit, get more in tune with being a woman, create more, express myself more, and move more sensual. Self care and personal development will be priorities in my life this year to ensure the energies are balanced. I look forward to serene morning relaxation baths, massages, dancing, enjoy a nice glass of wine on many walks on the river, and sending myself flowers. Yes ladies, it is perfectly okay to send yourself flowers. I do it all of the time. From You Flowers is bookmarked on the computer. Whenever I am in a slumber or just celebrating a minor accomplishment, I like to give myself special gifts like flowers or fruit baskets.
This one is pretty simple. COOK MORE. PLATE MORE. EAT MORE. INVITE MORE. LEARN HOW TO COOK MORE. It has been so much fun sharing my recipes but I really want to grow in the kitchen and channel my inner Julia Child.
3 | RISE TO THE CHALLENGE AND ALWAYS BE BRAVE
A few years back, I started making myself daily challenges for each month. I would list some pretty simple things to do but also make a point to write some very difficult or terrifying, emotionally, challenges that I have tried to avoid all of my life. We know that change is good and challenging ourselves is even better. Therefore, this year I will promise to always be brave. Even if it's a random Wednesday and I challenge myself to spark a conversation with a total stranger, run a 12 mile run in a totally different city, take swimming lessons, or visit a temple--it will get done.
4 | DOCUMENT MY LIFE
After losing my dad, I noticed the amount of pictures my family had in photo albums and storage. It made my heart really happy to be able to look back on so many memories with photographs in my hand. We are the generation of UPLOADING but I still love and value printing photographs and writing in photo albums. One of my favorite places to print photos is Target. The photo print turning around is super fast and it's really easy. Plus, we can pick up so many cute little photo albums and scrapbooking supplies. Keeping a visual photo journal is one of my main unusual resolutions simply because I would like to document my life in real life.
5 | ROOTED, BLOSSOMING and SERVED
You all would be happy to know that the spinach and greens Amira and I planted have really done well. I unknowingly made an assumption that I was no green thumb garden whisper but apparently I am. I am already anticipating the last frosts departure and spring to show her beautiful self up. 2017, I will plant a beautiful vegetable garden for all of my family and friends to enjoy my version of farm to table.
HAVE YOU ALL MADE ANY UNUSUAL NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS? ANYTHING, YOU REALLY WANT TO ACCOMPLISH THIS YEAR?
