How to Create A Personal Style Tearbook
New Year...New You, January is not only the opportunity to refresh our lives with our health and finance. Please, pretty please, let's not neglect our style. Reinvent yourself through your wardrobe and watch how much confidence is exuded when you have defined your style and used inspirational images to execute your looks. I have a genius idea too!!! The magazines you have sitting in the corner from your vision board parties, put them to great use by making a personal style tear book.
Now that you all have your magazines, here's how to get the most of those timeless issues by creating your own personal tearbook.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
clear sheet protectors
dividers with tabs
magazines of course
+Grab your supplies and get yourself comfortable. Place all of your dividers and clear sheet protectors in your folder.
+ Organize your folders in categories based on key essential pieces. For example, I used shoes, dresses, blouses, coats, and accessories as my essential categories.
+ Over coffee or desert, skim through your magazines for statement pieces in each category that you will like to shop for this season.
+Tear "hence" tearbook out all of your inspiration pages and place them in their respective categories.
+ Use your tearbook as reference when you are planning shopping trips or for online shopping as well.
So, basically, you'll use the same supplies as the tearbook minus the dividers for categories and add "looks". What I mean "office", "date night", "casual chic" you see where I'm going with this. A lookbook is a set of photographs displaying a fashion designer's new collection, assembled for marketing purposes. For you... it will be a set of looks for your personal wardrobe as a source of inspiration to recreate.
As we summarize Introduction to Creating Lookbooks lol, here's an example of using inspiration from an old Harper's Bazaar Issue to create a look over and over again. As you see in the picture above, I tore a spread about How To Wear Flares and next thing you know I created 3 different ways to wear flare jeans. Using the same image almost a year later, I created a sequin top and wore it with a pair of denim jeans
I'd love to see you all create personal lookbooks and tearbooks for the upcoming spring 2017 season. Share your pictures with me via social media #lookandreafenise
