#SHOWYOURWORK : Renesha x Michael Costello Inspired Dress
Here's to another #showyourwork post that may be one of my favorites. Not because my client looks absolutely gorgeous in the dress but because of the lessons I learned while making her dress. Here's a rundown of the process really quick... Client sees a picture on Instagram, client sends me a text "Hey girl, I NEED this dress in my life, I say "Ok, when, color, want it this long, etc, etc. etc. Then the process begins....
Without ANY patterns, I somehow take a picture and literally dissect and analyze how to construct the garment of course my way. I keep in mind client's specifications. For example, Renesha didn't want the dress as long. It's not easy but it's fun to me. I know I sound like a nerd but it's kinda cool playing with shapes and patterns and trying new techniques. Speaking of...
One of the things I love to do is challenge myself with a new technique. After studying Michael Costello's technique I realized a tool he used to get a particular type of finish. It was a challenge but I overcame it and now I can see Oh I can do the "Michael Costello finish".
I have to keep it all the way live and show you the "real process" lol. My Barbie Doll Renesha sent me a few sneak peek shots, yes one in the ladies room. I gasped when I received the text message. LOVES!
Here's a quick sneak peek into her holiday portrait session with her family. I'll be nice and not overshare.
