Who Run It? Weekly Running Report
I’m from Memphis and if you are too, you understand this title. This track is really amping me up and I’m bouncing in my work chair to Three 6 Mafia’s “Who Run It”. It has become my intro before lacing my shoes up to run over the past few weeks. Suffering from a miscarriage and being pregnant for 17 weeks, my pace is not as fast as normal and I need more and more encouragement to remain focused on this goal of Running A Marathon before 40.

There is nothing more I enjoy than quiet Saturday morning runs along the Mississippi River. I’m not alone in that because I normally see many other runners out at this time. This run was light and easy. I began with a brisk 5 minute walk to warm up and then completed my run with a goal of running 25 minutes with no break. Hey, I accomplished that!!!
SUNDAY September 2
2.84 mi 11’52”/mi 33:49
After a long night of drinking and salsa dancing, Daniel and I still hit the pavement. I didn’t drink as much maybe two mojitos but my husband took advantage of his designated driver lol. We went down to Harbor Town to run for a change of scenery but little did he know Harbor Town isn’t just the easiest run. For one, Sunday is the longer run adding in an extra 5 minutes to the goal plus I like to run the grass trail at the bottom of the paved walkway. Daniel quickly realized the grass was much harder to run. I was happy to know that he was surprised that I pushed through and ran a little faster through the challenging part.

It’s a celebration! It was Labor Day and we still came out to run. Daniel and I both are trying to shed some pounds, so it’s no days off unless there’s injuries. This run was a straight to the point—get it done run. I had pulls for a photo shoot and Daniel had work. Our pace was one minute and a second faster. We were proud of that, of course. Progression is key!!!
Tuesday September 4

LISTEN, this day wasn’t the day for me. I was feeling so sick with cold symptoms and whining, whining, whining. I did not want to run. But, my husband wasn’t hearing the excuses and pushed me right on out of the door. After dropping Amira off at ballet, we got in a quick running workout in Overton Park near her ballet. I don’t know if I set the pace faster because I was pissed off at him or I just was pushing myself. However, we ran much faster with no breaks.
Wednesday September 5

Lemme tell ya’ll something… when I’m sick I am not in the mood. We left home with me already in a whining mood. I got downtown and told Daniel that I wasn’t running today. I had plans on being lazy and using the day as a “cross training” day. Of course, we had a disagreement as he knows how important it is to me to push myself. I wasn’t highly focused and motivated this day. During the run, I kept making an excuse and wanting to stop to tie my shoes, use the bathroom, breath for a second—anything. But nope he was like Girl if you don’t c’mon. I came on and after we finished our incredibly great run, I checked Instagram and saw that my friend actually saw us running downtown and captured a picture.
THURSDAY & FRIDAY — OFF DAYS DUE TO WEATHER & YUP I HAD A COLD
Saturday September 8

Round of applause for me!!! I finished this week pretty strong despite being under the weather. It was a tad tough but this week made me realize why I feel in love with running over 14 years ago. THE HIGH!!! My Saturday morning run was peaceful and steady. It was the perfect parallel to how I’d like to see myself accomplish my goals and design my life. I even through in a “just because’ extra minute as motivation to myself that even when I have finished the goal to always add a little extra to make sure I know why I started in the first place.
